Sew-A-Long: Midget Block 11- Signal

The Signal block is machine pieced with small scraps of left-over fabric. The blue fabric is probably my favorite of the bunch.

Each block will be 4" completed... the first 50 block instructions can be purchased from Sentimental Stitches but instructions for blocks 51 through 196 are free. Check them out HERE!

If you're sewing along I'd love to see your completed blocks in the Flickr Group! :)

Sew-A-Long: Midget Block 10- Log Cabin

This little log cabin block was paper pieced. Each section is very small and anything but paper piecing would have been much more difficult. I chose some scraps of fabric that I had left over from other projects and the final product is what you see above!

Sew-A-Long: Midget Block 9- Cactus Bloom

This block was hand appliqued. I used some of my hand dyed fabric for the red buds and a green polka dot for the leaves. Because it's such a small block it didn't take much time to complete. :)

Sew-A-Long: Midget Block 8: Tricolor Block

This block turned out really nicely. The color combination is one of my favorites.

To make sewing quick and easy I cut 3 long strips, 1 of each color, and stitched them together, long edges together. After that I cut the stripes in the 4 blocks, turned them in the correct direction, and stitched them up.

The best part about making just 1 block is how fast it can be. This particular block, especially, was done in under half an hour. Now I can add it to my Midget Block collection and make some more!

Zirkus Shawl

Pattern: Zirkus by Lisa Hannes
Needles: 4.50mm & 5.00 mm
Yarn: from Knitcrate and is no longer available

  • Cashmere Dreams Sock Yarn- Big Bang Theory (colored)
  • Cashmere Dreams Sock Yarn- Alta (gray)

Cast on: 6/1/16
Completed: 7/20/16

This shawl worked up pretty quickly! If I hadn't had other work projects and kids at home during the summer I probably would have gotten it done faster.

This was my first mosaic knitting experience and had a lot of fun with it. I bought the yarn as a kit from Knitcrate and the pattern came from Ravelry. The yarn colorways have been discontinued but any sock yarn will work for this pattern. I like the gray but I should have changed the other color to something that popped more. Live and learn! Either way it's a great shawl. 😊
