Back to School!
I can't believe it's already school time again. The summers seem so much shorter then they used to be. My older son, Ian, started 4th grade this year and my younger son, Jameson, is going to part-time preschool. I took them out for a couple of photo memory shots last Wednesday 8/15/12. They sure are growing!

A New Purse
In my 'spare' time... aka: when I don't feel like working... I like to crochet a bit. I just can't seem to help from creating things even in my free time. lol
I was reading a fun blog and came across this great pattern for a crocheted purse. I just had to make it! Here is my version... I changed the leaves and added a butterfly to both sides. I had lots of fun making this and who knows I might just make myself another one in fall colors! :)

Pinterest to Real Life: Tape Road
There are some really great ideas on Pinterest. I try to not spend too much time on there because it's a time hog! But I couldn't resist doing this little activity with my boys. You can be all fancy and use black and yellow electrical tape but all I had on hand was masking tape and a black marker. I taped up the whole house... the road went into every room, around into the kitchen, living room, sewing room, etc. It was a full circle when it was finished but with lots of twists and turns and long stretches. This provided HOURS of fun and I left it down for about a week before it got too dirty and ripped up in spots. This is on my list of 'must do again someday'. :)

Sewing Room Facelift
My sewing room got another facelift this past week. This is next to the last thing that needed to done before I can officially call my sewing room make over 'complete'. I love the progress that has been made and I finally feel like this is 'it'!
Here is a before photo of the wall and counter top...
Here is a during photo of the wall...
And here is and after photo of the wall and countertop...
I love everything! The countertop actually got 2 cord cut outs, one on each side of the window. And the wall shelves have really opened up so much more room. I've got my mail station and all my reference books and notebooks right at hand. My yarn, which isn't used as frequently, is nicely organized and visually appealing. And I've got lots of lovely microfiber right at hand to work with! I love it! I don't think I can say that enough. :)

Wordless Wednesday: Eve
OK, almost Wordless Wednesday. I felt this needed a bit of an explanation. I made this wall hanging way back in my sophmore year of highschool in 2000. It is a hand painted batik with embroidery and beading. The greens have faided but it is still my all-time favorite piece of work and is still pinned to my inspiration board in my sewing room. I love it. :)

Amigurumi Monster
A couple months ago I had my older son draw up something so I could attempt to create an amigurumi from it. Amigurumi is the art of crocheted doll making. I love making ami's! This drawing turned out to be a gross monster though. But hey, it's different and what my son wanted me to make!
You can see in the drawing that he wanted it to be 22 feet tall. I told him, he'd be lucky if it was a foot tall. lol
Here is the head completed. I used the perfect sphere as the base and added the features before I finished crocheting the ball.
And here we have some progress! The head was probably the most difficult to get the features right and to not be too creepy.
The finished monster has an appliqued heart in the center of the chest, instead of the intestines from the original drawing... the designer asked me to change that. lol And the arms and legs are moveable, which I learned to do from one of those Dummie's books. :)
I really enjoyed making this and we love how well it turned out! What do you think??

Fanpages...
Hi friends!
Did you know that I've got 5 Etsy shops and 1 .com that I run? Did you know that I'm also running 4 Facebook Fanpages? Crazy, huh?
So here's the deal, to help cut down on some of my time spent online, I've opted to consolidate my fanpages. I'm shutting down all of them but Heather's Green Home Goods, which is my umbrella main business. Instead of posting the same things or posting new items from each shop that correspond to the fanpage, I'll be sticking strictly to my Heather's Green Home Goods. If you're not a fan yet, hop on over and like it!
I'll be doing a giveaway when I reach a certain number of fans... I haven't decided what number or what to give away yet... but I'll let you know when I do!
So like, share, and show some love!! :)

Fitness Friday: Progress Report!
I haven't written a Fitness Friday post in over a month! It's definitely time to tell you my progress!
I have been working really hard to lose some weight, any weight. lol I'd been on a plateau for nearly 3 weeks without much weight loss and it was getting really frustrating! I'd been exercising regularly but having troubles counting my calories or watching what I eat. It's easier in the mornings but dinner always trips me up.
My 2.5 month progress report is actually pretty good even though I've been stuck for awhile! I'm down 13 pounds. I'm half way to my first goal weight and about 22 pounds from my final goal. I've also been keep track by tape measuring myself. I've lost an inch from around my neck, an inch from my waist, 2 inches from my hips, and an inch from my thighs. :)
Progress with my exercise program is going pretty well too! I've finished week 7 of my Couch to 5K program… half way done! I've also been doing a few strength training exercises and some yoga but not as regularly as I should.
So how to I feel? Great! I'm glad I've dropped some weight but I'm even happier with how much extra energy I have. I have been eating much healthier foods, mostly wholefoods, and drinking plenty of water.
My August weight loss goals are to continue training for a 5k, drop at least 5 more pounds (but 10 pounds would be even better), and to get into my size 8 jeans again. :) I'll update you again next week!

Crocheted Blanket
Even though I haven't written many blog posts lately I have still been busy making things!
I finished this little granny crocheted blanket last month. It's the perfect size to go on the back of the love seat, and for little people to wrap up in. I didn't really use a pattern, just sort of went wherever the yarn took me. I did get bored making it so that's why it's not any bigger then it is. lol
I'll be back tomorrow to share Fitness Friday with you!
