Baby Doll Diapers

Earlier this year, I created some fun baby doll diapers for a customer. We let her little girl dig through my fabric stash to pick out exactly what she wanted and I had them sewn up in no time! They fit her 15"-18" American Girl doll. :)

I've had it in the books to add the baby doll diapers to my shop for some time. Unfortunately, there's been other projects that needed completed first! Things are wrapping up and going smoothly and I anticipate adding a few baby doll diapers to my shop in the near future.

Cloth Pads

I completed these cloth pads about 2 weeks ago. They were made for a midwife who sells them at her office. It's a really great way to share the reusable, eco-friendly goodness! I made 10 postpartum and 10 regular pads in random color choices of my own.

Each wing section has the fabric on the bottom, a layer of waterproof material (PUL), then the fabric on top again. The wings have resin snaps, the same type I use on my cloth diapers so they are durable and colorfast.

The pad portion on the regular has 2 layers of (hidden) flannel with a top layer of organic bamboo velour (OBV).

The pad portion on the postpartum or overnight has 1 layer of Zorb (ultra absorbant material) with a top layer of organic bamboo velour (OBV).

Everything is serged together for a clean professional look.

Pantiliners are $7.00/each.
Regulars are $7.50/each.
Postpartum/Overnight are $8.00/each.

New Diaper Covers Now In Stock!

I've been working hard between custom orders to get a few new items sewn up and listed! I'm not moving as fast as I'd like so I recently hired another helper so my time isn't stretched so thin. She'll be helping me sew up the RTS (ready to ship) items like the ones below. These covers are all the Newborn/Preemie size, which fits a 4-9 pound baby. Closing Up Shop

Sometimes things just don't work out and it's best to let them go. You know?

I've decided to shut down my main Heather's Green Home Goods website. The URL will point to my blog instead. I'll be keeping the name, used as an umbrella term, and keeping the facebook page. The website became a real headache and source of stress to try to manage. Driving traffic to it was also not really working out well. So, I decided to just push that off my plate and stick to Etsy. :)

And right on the heels of that decision I decided I needed to close up shop at Heather's Custom Sewing. It's sad to see this shop go! It was my first online selling site and I've run it since June 2008. However, my life has turned in a different direction entirely from where I started! I enjoy sewing aprons, tote bags, etc but doing so has just taken up too much of my time lately. I really want to put all my focus into my green cleaning shop and my cloth diaper shop.

Micromops and Hen and Chick Cloth are staying right where they are on Etsy and hopefully we will see some growth from them in the coming months. I have new items I'd like to add and a few new products I'd like to develop. Keep an eye out for what's new!

Heather's Custom Sewing will be shut down at the end of this year, 2012. Everything in the shop is currently $5.00 and under. I would LOVE for these products to go to a good home for the holiday season (and I would love the extra space in my sewing room)!

Baby Clothes!

I love to sew baby girl clothes. But I don't have a baby anymore and I definitely don't have any girls! So what's a mama to do? Sew them anyways!

Awhile ago I got some nice destash fabric from my sister. I had no idea what to do with it but one fabric in particular stuck out to me. It just screamed 'baby girl clothes'! I found a couple of really cute patterns on Etsy, downloaded them, and got to work. Here is what I made… of course, they are for sale on my website for you to purchase. I hope to make many more of these cute baby clothes!
