Color to Dye For- One of A Kind Hand Dyed Yarns

I've always loved hand dyed yarns and I'm the kind of person who wants to try everything crafty related. I've hand dyed fabric in the past and thought yarn couldn't be much different. After researching, gathering tools and supplies, I had a go at it! I fell in love and went a little crazy dying as much yarn as possible. Now I have tons of hand dyed yarn for myself and plenty to share with you!

Color to Dye For is now open for business!

There are sock yarns, DK weight yarns, worsted weight yarns, and bulky yarns available. Almost everything is one of a kind (OOAK) in lots of fun color ways. Check them out and grab a skein for yourself or as a gift before they're all gone!

Thrift Store Repurpose

I found this pretty, but slightly plain, top at a thrift store a couple months ago. It has a crocheted edging around the next which gives it a little something. Unfortunately, the edging was beginning to fray, which is why it was at the thrift store I bet! It was discounted and I thought 'hey, I can fix that!', so I bought it. I ended up sewing a strip of ribbon all the way around the edging. It hid the frayed part and gave it a little contrasting color. Not bad for $2! :)

A New Purse

In my 'spare' time... aka: when I don't feel like working... I like to crochet a bit. I just can't seem to help from creating things even in my free time. lol

I was reading a fun blog and came across this great pattern for a crocheted purse. I just had to make it! Here is my version... I changed the leaves and added a butterfly to both sides. I had lots of fun making this and who knows I might just make myself another one in fall colors! :)

Amigurumi Monster

A couple months ago I had my older son draw up something so I could attempt to create an amigurumi from it. Amigurumi is the art of crocheted doll making. I love making ami's! This drawing turned out to be a gross monster though. But hey, it's different and what my son wanted me to make!

You can see in the drawing that he wanted it to be 22 feet tall. I told him, he'd be lucky if it was a foot tall. lol

Here is the head completed. I used the perfect sphere as the base and added the features before I finished crocheting the ball.

And here we have some progress! The head was probably the most difficult to get the features right and to not be too creepy.

The finished monster has an appliqued heart in the center of the chest, instead of the intestines from the original drawing... the designer asked me to change that. lol And the arms and legs are moveable, which I learned to do from one of those Dummie's books. :)

I really enjoyed making this and we love how well it turned out! What do you think??
